Knead the dough, add in your egg and vanilla essence knead for 15 minutes until you have a smooth and firm dough ( if you’re kneading by hand it takes 10-15mins to achieve a smooth texture of dough). If you’re using a mixer start mixing on a low speed  then increase a notch, knead for 6mins.

Add in butter as you knead

Continue kneading until everything is well combined. While kneading avoiding adding too much flour so you don’t  end up with a hard texture donuts.

Knead until the dough is slightly sticky and smooth. In another bowl (grease the bowl using little oil or butter)  cover with cling film of a kitchen towel and let it rest for 30-40 minutes (until it doubles its size)

Punch the dough down

Divide the dough into 8 -10 equal portions then  shape the dough pieces into small balls ( place them with the closure downward),Or roll out the dough then use a round shaped cutter to cut out the dough,Ensure you keep distance between them on a baking tray.

Cover the dough pieces with a cling film Or a kitchen towel  for 40mins -1hour in a warm place until they are doubled in size.

Put enough oil in a large pan

Put the raised dough pieces in the hot oil and fry for 3 minutes per side, fry until it’s color is slightly golden (On medium heat).

For the coating: once the donuts are fried, drain excess oil before coating. Dust with a little granulated sugar, donuts should be a little warm when sugar is put on it so that the sugar stays put on the donuts.

Or add any filling of your choice.

Enjoy!!!
